Our Response To The NPO Cuts

As a network of independent producers and artists, IDMN has been very disheartened by Arts Council England's (ACE's) decision to remove three regional dance agencies - Greenwich Dance, MDI and Dance Manchester - from their portfolio of regularly-funded organisations. We are concerned about the impact that this decision will have on audiences, participants and professional dance artists alike, especially considering Nicholas Serota's statement in The Stage of 12 July 2017 that "our 2018-22 investment will not lead to a reduction in ... opportunities for artists and audiences"; despite these stated intentions, a reduction in opportunities is exactly what we are seeing across London's capital and the North West, the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.

Producer Needed

Gerrard Martin is seeking a producer for his new dance-theatre work.

Gerrard has an hour-long dance-theatre piece, which is entitled 'Any Last Words...?' The piece has 3 performers - two dancers and a spoken word artist/beat boxer who creates the sound track using a loop station. The piece is stimulated by the Black Lives Matter campaign, police brutality, and real life experiences from the cast who have and are negotiating racism.

Founded in 2002, IDMN has evolved over the years as a community of independent arts managers, artists, administrators, producers, promoters, programmers, consultants and agents working across the subsidised and commercial arts sectors in the UK. As of 2017, IDMN is now embracing a shift in direction and focus, led by Chantal Guevara as Chair, and although it may take a while for all our new plans to fall into place, we are seeking new members to be part of this new IDMN.

Job: Graduate Administrator for Grad-Lab 2017

Grad-Lab 2017 is an ACE-funded project which will assist dance graduates from the south regions in their career planning and artistic development, and is run by the New Dimensions in Dance Programme at The Point Eastleigh. Grad-Lab is seeking a recent graduate who wants to excel in an administrative role within a dance environment, who will also receive mentoring and professional development opportunities alongside the paid work.
