Silke is a freelance arts manager and producer. Originally from Germany and following a Master Degree in Theatre, Film & Media and Communications & PR, Silke relocated to London in 2004. Since, she has established her career within dance management as a freelancer as well as through her employments with Greenwich Dance, Chisenhale Dance Space and East London Dance.
Silke has been creating, developing and producing dance activities, which range from consultation and career support schemes, artist bursaries, education projects (both within the formal and informal sector), community projects, training opportunities, showcases and performances (both indoors and outdoors) and large-scale participatory projects involving up to 300 participants. She has gained extensive experience in partnership work through managing projects with Royal Opera House, Southbank Centre, Dance Umbrella, Capital Age Festival, Lift, Random Dance and Candoco during her time at East London Dance.
With her company ‘ZEITGEIST arts productions’ – established in 2009 – Silke aims to work with national and international artists from the dance and performing arts industries with a brave, risk-taking and challenging approach towards the arts.
Current clients include:
Greenwich Dance / Project Manager / Artistic Programme
Sally E. Dean Performing Arts Inc. / Manager, Producer & Administrator
Vox Novus: 60×60 Dance / Co-Producer / Europe
Co-producing a large scale overseas can be an overwhelming feat for any producer. Fortunately for 60×60 Dance, Silke was our guide and liaison to co-produce the most successful 60×60 Dance the project has done to date at Stratford Circus in London. She helped with the recruitment and coordination of 60 choreographers and over 150 dancers of varying styles and aesthetics including modern dance, hiphop, tap dance, pole dancing, salsa, lindyhop, experimental dance, acrobatic performance, and many more. In collaboration with East London Dance, she secured an endorsement from the 2012 London Olympic committee for Open Weekend. Silke is a thorough, detailed professional who cares for the artists she helps produce. Her skills were invaluable to the success for 60×60 Dance’s debut performance in Europe. I look forward to working with her for years to come.
