Rosie Heafford is an arts manager and choreographer working in London and the South East. Since graduating from Laban (2009) and Goldsmiths (2010), she has specialised in creating highly original dance-experiences to be seen at close range. She has in-depth experience in project coordination, marketing and evaluation for high profile companies as well as fundraising, choreographing and managing her own projects across multiple art-forms.
She has worked for Woking Dance Festival, UP Projects, and Chisenhale Dance Space on a range of projects. These include initiating and fundraising for the Woking Dance Festival Young Ambassadors Scheme (an arts management training programme for young people aged 18-25), as an event manager and evaluation co-ordinator for UP Projects’ Portavilion series (The Big Dance Bubble and Floating Cinema) and as project coordinator at Chisenhale Dance Space in partnership with the Dance Art Foundation for the training scheme Dance Connections 2011.
Her self-initiated projects under the company name second hand dance include ‘Isle of View’ a promenade performance bringing together 4 community dance groups and professional dancers and ‘Empty Shop Project’ a six week self-initiated residency and programme of contemporary dance events presented in an empty shop in Dorking. Her work with second hand dance has gained her support from Surrey Arts and South East Dance as well as recognition as the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ (2011) in the Epsom & Ewell Business Awards and the award for ‘Best Business Idea’ from CIDA (2010).
